U.S. Army Corps of Engineers South Atlanta Division Commander Maj. Gen. Diana Holland spoke on behalf of the Corps during a press conference hosted by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster Sept. 5.
"The Army Corps of Engineers team is proud to support the State of South Carolina in this emergency," said Holland. "In support of the U.S. Coast Guard we will deploy our survey vessels into federal channels to support in the decision for when to open the ports."
Holland also highlighted Corps support to military installations for post storm assessments repairs surveying federal coastline to determine damage done to beaches.
USACE has received 19 FEMA mission assignments including – Regional Activations, Temporary Emergency Power, Debris, Infrastructure Assessment, Water and Wastewater Assessment, and Temporary Roofing and Coastal Engineers.
