U.S. Navy Ensign Casey Densmore, a member of the Naval Academy's Training and Research in Oceanic and Atmospheric Processes in Tropical Cyclones, or TROPIC team, reviews the data from the Airborne eXpendable BathyThermographs, or AXBT, after its release while flying into Hurricane Dorian, Sept. 3, 2019 after the storm passed over the Bahamas. The Naval Academy Research team gather data to research the impact of the ocean on the intensification of tropical cyclones while flying with the 53rd Weather Reconaissance Squadron of the 403rd Wing from Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, as the Hurricane Hunters fly into tropical systems.
