KINGS BAY, Ga. (August 29, 2019) Members of the Navy band play music as distinguished guests, family, and Sailors arrive at the change of command ceremony held at the chapel onboard Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Ga., where Cmdr. Matthew Luff relieved Cmdr. Jon Schaffner as commanding officer of USS Tennessee (SSBN 734) (Gold). Schaffner assumed command of Tennessee (Gold) March 2017. Tennessee is one of five ballistic-missile submarines stationed at the base and is capable of carrying up to 20 submarine-launched ballistic missiles with multiple warheads.
