The Maryland National Guard provided support to augment the curriculum of Baltimore City’s STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) centered program under YouthWorks throughout the month of July. The junior high school-aged youths visited Camp Fretterd Military Reservation near Reisterstown Maryland, on July 31, 2019. The group learned about the basic tools used to save limbs and lives in battlefield medical situations. They cleared airway restrictions, observed nasal pharyngeal insertions, administered IVs, observed drawing blood, and practiced suturing on a pig’s foot.
