The Maryland National Guard provided support to augment the curriculum of Baltimore City’s STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) centered program under YouthWorks throughout the month of July. The junior high school-aged youths visited the Army Aviation Support Facility at Weide Army Airfield in Edgewood, Maryland, on July 10, 2019. The participants spent time in the UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter and door gunnery simulators. They also toured the different helicopters in use by the MDNG, the CH-47 Chinook, the UH-60 Blackhawk, and the UH-72 Lakota helicopters while interacting with pilots and mechanics. Also, on hand were wheeled robots from the Recruiting and Retention Battalion, who set up an obstacle course for the participants to navigate.
