Mr. Tony L. West, National Guard Bureau Inspector General, opens up the 2019 National Guard Bureau Inspectors General conference, July 30, 2019, Arlington, Virginia. The IG conference provided more than 100 IGs from across the 50 States, 3 Territories, and the District of Columbia direct lines of communication with subject matter experts from different areas within the Department of Defense (DoD) such as the DoD IG office, Secretary of the Air Force IG office, and the Department of the Army IG office along with branch chiefs and directors of the Army and Air National Guard. This allowed for essential training and policy updates vital to the IG mission affecting the overall force. IGs serve as force enablers to the National Guard by providing independent, relevant, and timely assessments of integrity, readiness, and efficiency and to foster a culture of excellence and integrity.
