NHAMUNDA, Brazil (Aug. 14, 2019) U.S. Military Tropical Medicine Course students visit Hospital Coronel Pedro Macedo in Nhamunda, Brazil, Aug. 14, 2019. The group toured the clinical laboratory facilities and central pharmaceutical distribution center, and learned about the hospital’s blood transfusion program. This visit marks the fifth stop of a 26-day Brazil Riverine humanitarian medical mission by five U.S. Navy and Air Forces physicians, a U.S. Navy nurse and their Brazilian counterparts deployed aboard the Brazilian navy hospital ship NAsH Doutor Montenegro (U16). The purpose of the mission is to exchange medical expertise, provide medical care to isolated communities along the Amazon River and serve as a capstone event for the course. (U.S. Navy photo)
