Vice President Mike Pence addresses the media at East Kentucky University's Manchester campus in Manchester, Kentucky, August 8, 2019. At this event, Pence highlighted Operation Coal Country, which was an Innovative Readiness Training event supported by more than 150 members of the Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, Navy Reserve, active-duty Navy, Army Reserve and active-duty Army. Over the course of this medically focused mission, from August 3-10, 1,805 civilian patients were treated. Overall, 12,762 procedures were administered to the patients on a first-come, first-served basis and a total value of $1,175,137 of services were provided at no cost to the patients.
