U.S. Marine Cpl. Zackery Hughes, a water support technician with Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force - Southern Command, and Lance Cpl. Fernando Rivera, a radio operator with SPMAGTF-SC, explains how water is purified through a light weight water purification system to Sargento Razo de Fuerza Naval de Honduras (Honduran Navy Sergeant) Christian Josue Padilla Banegas, during a water purification operation in Base Naval de Puerto Castilla, Honduras, Aug. 9, 2019. The purpose of the operation is to provide potable water to U.S. and Honduran service members at Base Naval de Puerto Castilla. The task force is conducting training and engineering projects alongside partner nation military forces in Central and South America. The unit is also on standby to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in the event of a hurricane or other emergencies in the region.
