Staff members and Volunteers from the Hampton Roads Naval Museum take advantage of a photo opportunity while on a guided tour of the Naval History and Heritage Command’s Collections Management Facility in Richmond, Virginia. The group is standing behind the aptly named “Pop”, which was a Lion that was the mascot for Strike Fighter Squadron Fifteen based at NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The fiberglass mascot was modeled after a lion that squadron members adopted while visiting the Jacksonville, Florida zoo. The squadron was disbanded in 2017, and the fiberglass mascot was sent to the collections management facility (US Navy Photo by Max Lonzanida/Released).
