190806-N-CL027-1167 SOUTH CHINA SEA (August 6, 2019) Capt. Pat Hannifin, commanding officer of the Navy’s forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) greets Maj. Gen. Erickson Gloria, Deputy Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines, on the flight deck. Gloria was among a group of distinguished visitors including Mr. Toby Purisima, the Philippines’ Assistant Secretary of Civil Defense, who observed flight operations during a tour of the ship. The enduring U.S.-Philippine relationship is a staple of peace and security in a free and open Indo-Pacific Region. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, protects the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
