190806-N-WI365-2179 CORAL SEA (August 06, 2019) – Range safety officer Chief Gunner’s Mate Carlos Torres, from Houston, observes Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class Alexis Vazquez, from Cleveland, Ohio, fire an M2HB .50-caliber machine gun on the foc’s’le during crew serve weapons (CSW) qualifications aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48). Ashland, part of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is operating in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
