Senior Airman Alissa Toca, Aerospace Medical Technician, 445th Aeromedical Staging Squadron, provides technical supervision and support to U.S. Air Force Academy cadets during a 10-day field training event on the Academy’s campus in July. The cadets wearing black ballcaps are trained as emergency medical responders who provide frontline and first response care at numerous Academy activities, including for the 1,100 first-year cadets participating in this field training event. The event is nearly entirely cadet-led, but some of the injuries sustained during seven strenuous courses require expert medical treatment. The 445th Aerospace Medical Squadron is one of approximately 10 Air Force Reserve units supporting the cadets and offering levels of care higher than the EMR cadets are trained to provide.
