Crew members from the Colombian submarine ARC Tayrona (SO-29) welcome U.S. Navy officers aboard for a tour prior to the closing ceremony of the Diesel-Electric Submarine Initiative (DESI) held at Naval Station Mayport, August 1. The Colombian navy has participated in DESI since 2004. Under the DESI program, the U.S. Navy partners with South American navies and supports their diesel-electric submarine operations and fleet readiness events operating areas off the U.S. East and West Coasts.
