Dr. Robert Ballard, ocean explorer and director of the Center for Ocean Exploration at the University of Rhode Island's graduate school of oceanography, visits the Office of Naval Research and discusses the development of tele-presence technology in support of ocean exploration and science, technology, engineering and mathematics education. Ballard is known for his exploration of the wreck of the RMS Titanic. He began his relationship with ONR as a naval reserve officer assigned as scientific liaison to ONR's branch office in Boston and assignment to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
