    International Four Days Marches Nijmegen

Staff Sgt. Ethan Lambert, soldier with the U.S. Army Health Clinic Vilseck, shakes hands with the leader of the memorial sites of a town that was liberated by the 82nd Airborne Division during Operation Market Garden, a military operation that occurred Sept 17-25, 1944 during World War II. Soldiers of the U.S. Army Medical Department Activity Bavaria participated in the 103rd edition of the International Four Days Marches Nijmegen, that began July 16, 2019 and concluded July 19, 2019. Nijmegen, or Vierdaagse in Dutch, is the largest marching event in the world that occurs for four consecutive days. It is organized every year as a means of promoting sport and exercise. Over 450 U.S. service members were among the nearly 6,000 military marchers, and more than 40,000 civilians from around the world who marched 100 miles in four days in and around the Dutch city of Nijmegen.
