During a wisdom tooth extraction, the dentist gives the patient a local anesthetic which numbs the area where the tooth will be removed or a general anesthetic which makes the patient sleep through the procedure. A wisdom tooth is extracted to correct an actual problem or to prevent problems that may come up in the future. Cohenour and Maisonet are from the 628th Medical Group and Dyer is from the 628th Security Forces Squadron.
