Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (24 July 2019) - Lt. Dave Price, operations officer at the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), demonstrates an experiment to create static electricity, as well as a "tornado in a bottle" experiment and cloud creation experiment, to a group of local children from the YMCA on Oahu, Hawaii. Lt. Price also explained tropical cyclones, the role of JTWC in the Navy, and how STEM includes meteorology and information technology. This was the second in a series of outreach tours JTWC has given to groups of local children attending after school and summer programs at the YMCA on Oahu, Hawaii, emphasizing that STEM principles are the foundation of many technologically advanced careers, including those in the Navy, today.
