Cmdr. Robert Winters, executive officer for Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Business Systems Center (BSC) in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, participates in Federal Computer Week's “Digital Safety Begins at Home: Agencies Are Taking Steps to Bolster Global Supply Chain Security” panel discussion, July 16, in Washington, D.C. The event served as an opportunity to collaborate and share ideas on topics such as evolving supply chain security standards; how existing programs can assist with supply chain visibility; the costs and implications of improved supply chain security; and emerging technologies that can help secure the supply chain. During the discussion, Winters reinforced NAVSUP BSC’s role and efforts to improve supply chain security, and their mission to deliver information technology and information management solutions with specific emphasis on logistics and financial related products and services for the Navy, DoD, federal agencies, and international customers. Bob Kolasky, director of the National Risk Management Center, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency at the Department of Homeland Security, served as the keynote speaker for the event. Panel discussion participants included Mark Lee, assistant commissioner of the Office of Policy and Compliance within the Federal Acquisition Service at the U.S. General Services Administration; Deborah Pierre-Louis, director, Office of Policy, Liaison and Training, Bureau of Information Resource Management, U.S. Department of State; and Tony Hubbard, principal, KPMG Federal Cybersecurity practice. Troy Schneider, editor-in-chief of Federal Computer Week and Government Computer News, served as the panel moderator.
