Service members, politicians, business leaders and local media gathered at a groundbreaking ceremony July 10 at the 180th Fighter Wing headquarters, Toledo Air National Guard Base, in Swanton, Ohio. Pictured left to right are: state Senator Theresa Gavarone (far left), Maj. Gen. Mark E. Bartman (R), former adjutant general for the Ohio National Guard (left), Maj. Gen. John C. Harris, Ohio National Guard adjutant general (center), Col. Kevin V. Doyle, 180th Fighter Wing commander (right), and state Representative Lisa Sobecki (far right). The area behind the group will be a hangar, but the project also includes a deployment processing facility and a base fitness center. The under nine-million dollar project will house up to four aircraft. The projected completion date is October 2020.
