190709-M-YD783-1081 ATLANTIC OCEAN (July 9, 2019) U.S. Marine Cpl. Pierre Julien, an embark specialist with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, verifies the serial numbers of 22nd MEU storage units in the well deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD-3). Marines and Sailors aboard the Kearsarge are making final preparations to depart the ship and return home. The Kearsarge is nearing the end of a seven-month deployment during which it provided forward Naval and Marine presence and supported maritime security operations, crisis response and theater security cooperation.
