190706-M-YD783-1047 ATLANTIC OCEAN (July 6, 2019) U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Hunter Mills, a combat engineer with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Battalion Landing Team, cleans his M4 carbine in the well deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD-3). Combat engineer Marines recently returned to the Kearsarge after participating in the NATO exercise Baltic Operations. The Kearsarge is nearing the end of a seven-month deployment during which it provided forward Naval and Marine presence and supported maritime security operations, crisis response and theater security cooperation.
