190628-N-NU281-1417 SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN (June 28, 2019) Sailors wave to and take photographs of Ecuadorian navy guided-missile corvette BAE Loja (CM-16) as it passes alongside the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) during a "leap frog" maneuvering exercise. Michael Murphy is participating in UNITAS LX in Valparaiso, Chile, from June 24-July 3. UNITAS, Latin for "unity," is the world's longest-running multinational maritime exercise. Conceived in 1959 and first executed in 1960, UNITAS is a demonstration of U.S. commitment to the region and the strong relationships forged between our partner nations and their militaries.
