Staff Sgt. Walter Larsen of the US Army Air Corps (1942-1945) made a special visit to the 2019 Warrior Games being held in Tampa, Florida. Walter, who worked as an aerial photographer and is a WW II veteran, received some recognition and praise from the families and wounded warriors in attendance. One wounded warrior from the visiting United Kingdom Team gifted Walter a team shirt and told him, "Thank you for being the forefather for all of us to come". Walter who is 98 now, stayed for photographs and handshakes from members of all branches then continued to cheer for the warriors as they competed. (Warrior Games is a Paralympic style sporting event with 300 athletes from all DoD service branches and five international coalition partners. Active duty and veteran wounded warriors compete in 13 adaptive sports to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect of those who serve their country.)
