Katie Couric of CBS news arrives at Al Asad Air Base, Iraq, as President Bush makes a surprise visit to hold meetings with Iraqi government officials and other American political figures to discuss the rebuilding efforts of Al Anbar province, Iraq. The armed service members aboard Al Asad Airbase are deployed with Multi-National Force-West in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in Al Anbar to develop the Iraqi security forces, facilitate the development of official rule of law through democratic reforms and continue the development of a market-based economy centered on Iraqi reconstruction.
