Maj. Brandon Chang, 204th Airlift Squadron pilot, prepares a C-17 Globemaster III for flight June 17, 2019, at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. The Hawaii Air National Guard aircrew airdropped Hundreds of Soldiers assigned to 2nd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, during exercise Swift Response. The drop was conducted by a formation of aircraft from Canada, Italy, Spain, NATO and other U.S. units. Swift Response highlights the inherent flexibility of ground and air forces to respond to crises rapidly. The U.S. has developed relationships throughout the past 70 years by maintaining a presence in Europe, which facilitates a longstanding commitment to respond to threats against allied partners.
