Aida Bonsonto with her husband Gerald “Jerry” Bonsonto pose for a photo, circa 1946. Bonsonto’s wedding dress was made from a parachute, that was sent home to her by Army medic “Jerry” Bonsonto who served with the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II. After the war ended, the couple married at Holy Family Church in Chicago on June 8, 1946 and went on to raise a family. Bonsonto is loaning her dress to the 82nd Airborne Division War Museum at Fort Bragg, North Carolina where it will go on display.
