Kasperski is the commanding officer for Combat Logistics Regiment 37, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, which is here along with personnel from CLR-35, 3rd MLG, III MEF to conduct exercise Forest Light 12-2 with 4th Infantry Regiment, 5th Brigade, Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force. Hagi is the commanding officer for the 4th Infantry Regiment. The purpose of Forest Light 12-2 is to enhance the interoperability of Marines and JGSDF members while increasing individual and unit readiness in a cold weather environment.
