Col. John E. Kasperski, Col. Tomoyuki Hagi and staff members listen as they are briefed on the concept of operations for an upcoming field training exercise here March 7, 2012. Kasperski is the commanding officer for Combat Logistics Regiment 37, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, which is here along with personnel from CLR-35, 3rd MLG, III MEF to conduct exercise Forest Light 12-2 with 4th Infantry Regiment, 5th Brigade, Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force. Hagi is the commanding officer for the 4th Infantry Regiment. The purpose of Forest Light 12-2 is to enhance the interoperability of Marines and JGSDF members while increasing individual and unit readiness in a cold weather environment.
