Pfc. Andrew Linares, assigned to Alpha Battery, 3rd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment and currently deployed to Kuwait, tightens the chin straps from his gas mask during a Nuclear, Biological, Chemical exercise, Aug. 27. The NBC station is one of the five the Soldiers and non-commissioned officers had to perform during the common task training portion of the Third Army Soldier and NCOs of the year competition, Aug. 27. The event was held at Fort McPherson, Ga. Three NCOs and three Soldiers will compete with the winner from each respective level advancing to the Department of the Army Soldier and NCO of the year competition in October at Fort Lee, Va.
