A Japan Ground Self-Defense Force member passes through friendly lines as a Marine posts security during exercise Forest Light here March 10. The purpose of Forest Light 12-2 is to enhance the interoperability of Marines and JGSDF members while increasing individual and unit readiness in a cold weather environment. The Marines are from 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force. The JGSDF members are from 4th Infantry Regiment, 5th Brigade, JGSDF.
