Alejandro Torres, 23, from Bronx, N.Y., motor transport mechanic, Combat Logistics Battalion 5, Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, leaves a message to his wife during the Message from the Heart program aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., March 20. A Message from the Heart is a program created by the Lance Cpl. Jonathan W. Collins Foundation, a non-profit organization, in the attempt to provide children of deploying Marines and sailors the opportunity to create their own comfort bears with voice chips, which were pre-recorded with messages from the deploying parents, along with any messages service members wanted to share with their families.
