190607-N-ZS026-1025 SAN DIEGO (June 7, 2019) Cmdr. Robert Nowlin, deputy, operations, training and assessment for commander, Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC), leads a SMWDC 101 brief with Reserve Enterprise members onboard Naval Base San Diego. Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet hosted Navy Reserve Warrior Training, a four-day event that included multiple SMWDC briefs. SMWDC is the Navy surface warfare community’s Warfighting Development Center and its mission is to increase the lethality and tactical proficiency of the surface force across all domains. The SMWDC Reserve Enterprise exists to support the command’s mission. Reserve opportunities include; assist with Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT); help develop or update doctrine and Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs); assist with lessons learned capture and tasking; deploy as a member of the mine warfare battle staff; backfill at SMWDC headquarters or one of the divisions for deployers; attend and support warfare effectiveness studies; participate in missile exercises, and commander’s course events.
