USACE contractors complete a real-time kinematic (RTK) survey of the 15-mile El Centro sector. They are using a state-of-the-art receiver and data collector to interface with a radio base established about three miles east of this location at the western end of the sector. Here, a surveyor stands on one of the aerial panels used as part of the topography survey of the whole alignment. Approximately 50 of these panels have been placed along the 15-mile corridor to establish the contours of the land for the design of the new barrier.
