Oregon Army National Guard Pfc. Wesley Shafer, Charlie Company, 3-116th Combined Arms Battalion, 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team, conducts overwatch during dismount operations June 01, 2019, at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin California. Wesley, a 11B infantryman, said that he enjoys being out in the field with other Soldiers and practicing foot patrols. NTC provides soldiers with the opportunity to increase their individual readiness through simulated combat operations against the U.S. Army’s 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment.
The 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team is training at the National Training Center May 24 through June 20 to prepare for its wartime mission. The rotation builds unit and Soldier proficiency to provide combatant commanders with a trained and ready force capable of fighting and winning our nation's wars.
