Coast Guard repatriates 12 migrants to the Dominican Republic, following at-sea interdiction of migrant vessel in the Mona Passage

The Coast Guard Cutter Heriberto Hernandez interdicted an illegal migrant yola (boat) with 14 Dominicans on board May 30, 2019, approximately 10 nautical miles north of Mona Island, Puerto Rico. Twelve of the migrants were repatriated to a Dominican Navy patrol boat just off Samana, Dominican Republic June 2, 2019. Two other Dominican migrants remain in federal custody in Puerto Rico facing charges for attempted illegal reentry into a U.S. territory.
