U.S. Navy Builder 2nd Class Jason Fox, Builder 2nd Class John Williams and Equipment Operator 3rd Class Jacob Mooney are greeted with a traditional welcome meal by the village leadership at Kapingamarangi Atoll, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) as they prepare to conduct hydrographic surveys and maritime infrastructure assessments during Pacific Partnership 2019 (PP19). UCT 2 partnered with the FSM National Maritime Surveillance Police, the Australian Pacific Patrol Boat Program advisors and the Pohnpei Port Authority (PPA) to conduct assessments at Kapingamarangi that will increase FSMs ability to enforce security across it's vast maritime borders and exclusive economic zone. Pacific Partnership, now in its 14th iteration, is the largest annual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific. Each year, the mission team works collectively with host and partner nations to enhance regional interoperability and disaster response capabilities, increase stability and security in the region, and foster new and enduring friendships in the Indo-Pacific.
