Georgia National Guardsmen and running enthusiasts participated in the Veterans Memorial 5K in Marietta, Ga. May 25, 2019. At the same time, Georgia National Guard Soldiers of the 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team participated in a shadow run at Jalalabad Airfield, Afghanistan. Command Sgt. Major Jason York, senior enlisted advisor of the Calhoun-based 1st Squadron 108th Cavalry Regiment served as the official starter of the 5K and chatted live from Afghanistan with race participants and Marietta citizens.
