Retired Army Lt. Gen. Harold "Hal" Moore Jr. attends the West Point football spring scrimmage at Doughboy Stadium in Fort Benning, Ga. March 9, 2012. Moore is best known as the lieutenant colonel in command of the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, at the Battle of Ia Drang, in 1965 during the Vietnam War. He is the author of "We Were Soldiers Once And Young," which was adapted into the 2002 film "We Were Soldiers."
