Lt. Col. Thomas B. Savage, who served as the battalion commander of 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, poses with 1st Lt. Ray, the Personal Security Detail team chief for Headquarters and Service Company, 2nd Marine Logistics Group (Forward), following the 2012 Seniors Leaders Security Conference Awards Banquet held at MCRD San Diego, Calif., March 7. Gutierrez and Ray received the 2011 Kallstrom Awards for their actions while serving in Afghanistan last year. The Kallstrom awards, one for leadership and the other for bravery, are designed to recognize military police officers for their dedication to duty while serving in the Marine Corps on active duty.
