Officials from Brazil, representing the Terrestrial Operations Command and the 2nd Engineering Group of the Brazilian Army, participate in the Fuerzas Aliadas Humanitarias, FA-HUM 2019 exercise conducted by U.S. Army South, May 6-18, 2019, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The purpose of the exercise is to evaluate military and civilian response capabilities during a risk, emergency and disaster situation carried out by the Joint Operations Center of the Ministry of Defense.The participation of the Brazilian military contributes to the strengthening of partnerships between the two armies, especially at the moment when Brig. Gen. Alcides Valeriano de Farias Junior of the Brazilian Army was invited by the United States to serve as the Deputy Commander of the Inter-Command Interoperability for U.S. Southern Command.
