As the sun rises, an Indiana Army National Guard soldier takes large strides to finish the last 100 feet in an eight-mile march during a qualification competition for the 2012 Indiana Soldier and Non-commissioned Officer of the Year competition, March 4, at Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center, Ind. The competing soldiers had to wear their 35-pound body armor and carrying a rucksack weighing 35 pounds in a timed eight-mile march.
