Sgt. Chance A. Hardesty, a rifleman with Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, is promoted during a visit from Lt. Gen. Joseph L. Osterman, the commanding general of I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, May 2, 2019. Lt. Gen. Osterman visited the Marines of BLT 1/4 before they depart Okinawa to conclude their deployment with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
