Capt. Mark Kimball, 9th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron aircraft commander and native of Bel Air, Md., climbs into a B-1 prior to flight at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, Feb. 26, 2012. The B-1, or “Bone” as it is affectionately known, performed its first combat mission in December 1998 during Operation Desert Fox. Kimball, deployed from Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, was part of the B-1’s historic 10,000th combat mission, which was performed in support of ground forces in Afghanistan.
