He is one of 31 applicants across the nation who received a primary selection for the Coast Guard's College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative (CSPI) program in 2018. and having completed the Coast Guard's 53-day recruit training, the University of Guam junior began his first semester under the program last fall. Once Hofschneider graduates from UOG, he will receive a guaranteed commission as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard after completing the 17-week Officer Candidate School training.
