Joint Forces Training Base, Los Alamitos, California, a joint training base operated by the California National Guard in Orange County, recently earned the California Park & Recreation Society's District 10 Volunteer Merit Award. The base was nominated by the City of Los Alamitos for its community relations efforts and support of city events including the annual Race on the Base 5K, 10K and reverse triathlon, and the city's annual July 4th fireworks show, all of which are hosted by the installation. California State Military Reserve Brig. Gen. John Lathrop, installation commander, accepted the award during a ceremony held April 4, 2019, in Laguna Woods, California.
