The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Chief of Engineers and Commanding General Lt. Gen. Todd T. Semonite signs the Chief’s Report, progressing a flood risk management project in Minot, North Dakota, to Congress for authorization. The signing took place after a special meeting – held April 16 at Minot’s city hall – with Sen. John Hoeven, Col. Sam Calkins, St. Paul District commander, city of Minot officials, the Souris River Joint Water Resource Board and representatives from various federal agencies. If the plan is approved by Congress the project would fill the gap between phases of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Plan, a local project developed after the 2011 flood that went into construction in 2018.
