The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Chief of Engineers and Commanding General Lt. Gen. Todd T. Semonite meets with, Dan Jonasson, the city of Minot’s director of public works, before attending a special meeting with Sen. John Hoeven, Col. Sam Calkins, St. Paul District commander, city of Minot officials, the Souris River Joint Water Resource Board and representatives from various federal agencies April 16. After the meeting Semonite signed the Chief’s Report, progressing a flood risk management project here to Congress for authorization. If approved by Congress the project would fill the gap between phases of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Plan, a local project developed after the 2011 flood that went into construction in 2018.
