Chief Malia Chasteen talks to recruits

Chief Petty Officer Malia Chasteen, the Coast Guard’s first and only African-American woman to serve as an officer in charge afloat, talks to recruits from U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Cape May in the Bernard Webber Seamanship building about her experiences during her career, as part of the Coast Guard’s Ethridge Initiative, April 10, 2019.

The Ethridge Initiative is a diversity initiative to get more minority groups interested in the boatswains mate rating.
