Spc. John Obrion, a combat medic performs a trachea intubation on a pig trachea at the medical symposium at the 240th Regiment (RTI) in Bangor, April 6, 2019. Intubation is the placement of a flexible plastic tube in to the trachea to maintain an open airway or to serve as a conduit through which to administer medications. This is the third annual medical symposium that the Maine Army National Guard has held in which all medics throughout the state attend lectures, skill labs and trauma lanes to learn new medical techiniques and hone skills.
