NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY SOUDA BAY, Greece (April 1, 2019) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Gonzalez (DDG 66) approaches Souda Bay, Greece, April 1, 2019. Gonzalez, home-ported in Norfolk, is deployed to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe and Africa. NSA Souda Bay is an operational ashore base that enables U.S., allied, and partner nation forces to be where they are needed and when they are needed to ensure security and stability in Europe, Africa, and Southwest Asia.
